Head coach Kevin Sumlin received some great news today as he prepares for this afternoon’s matchup with the Arkansas Razorbacks. Freshman wideout Speedy Noil will return to the lineup after being cleared to play.
Noil injured his knee two weeks ago during the team’s contest with Rice, and underwent minor surgery to have the knee repaired. Reports say that Noil has made a substantial recovery, and will be available this afternoon. The elusive target will give Kenny Hill another major weapon to combat the tenacious Razorbacks who have a very formidable defense.
“Those close to the team said Noil required minor surgery but has ‘made a miraculous’ recovery. He returned to practice this week and was ‘making cuts’ a little more than a week after the surgery,” a source told ESPN‘s Travis Haney.
A five star recruit coming out of high school, Noil was listed as the no. 3 wide receiver in his class by Rivals.com.
Noil has 12 receptions for 197 yards and one touchdown on the year. He has also seen the field on special teams, taking punt return duty and also one kick return attempt. In efforts to ease him back in, Noil’s participation today will be limited to the offensive side of the ball, don’t expect to see him fielding punts.
