QB Taylor Kelly “Pretty Questionable” for USC

Since the announcement he would miss a few games earlier this season, Taylor Kelly has yet to step back on the field and the timetable for his return remains up in the air.  Kelly originally injured his right ankle two weeks ago against Colorado, and he remains “pretty questionable” for the Sun Devils’ match up against USC this weekend.

Head coach Todd Graham indicated he will have an exam Wednesday and then “we’ll kind of see where we’re at.” Kelly was seen this week still in a boot and on crutches and it seems unlikely he’ll be able to play Saturday or maybe beyond.

If Kelly is unable to go, the team will turn to junior quarterback Mike Bercovici for the second consecutive game.  The Sun Devils fell at the hands of the UCLA Bruins 62-27 during last Thursday’s game, and face a brutally tough schedule moving forward including games against three ranked teams. Kelly’s absence could prove more detrimental than anticipated if Bercovici doesn’t have a better outing this weekend.
