Sitting at the corner of College Avenue, stands a bar where many UGA students experience their most rowdy times in Athens, called the Silver Dollar. How did Silver Dollar get its name you may ask? The reasoning behind the name of the bar was in reference to the western currency of a silver dollar. Silver Dollar was founded by Evan Rosenberg with a couple of his buddies and opened in August 2011. This bar has a great feel to it and every time I go there I sense an overwhelming aura that the night will be good. With its open porch that wraps around the front of the bar, it enables good conversations with other bar goes without being confided in a space.
The crowd that comes to Silver Dollar is mixed on any given night. Silver Dollar wants to be known as a bar that braches out and reaches all sorts of dynamics. However, things do rowdy and that is when the fun truly begins.
Owner Evan Rosenberg has this to say about the atmosphere on gameday,“Gameday headquarters for those who want to see and be seen while getting rowdy for the Dawgs”.
As you can see this is also a place to be on game days. UGA fans come to have a great experience and have good vibes for the rest of the day. Speaking of good vibes, here is a drink that you all should try. It is called Poptail, which is an alcoholic popsicle that is truly amazing. The Poptail is a King of Pops popsicle mixed with alcohol. The fact that you can eat a popsicle on a hot day and get drunk is something that you do not want to miss out on!
