Memphis RB Doroland Dorceus Done For Season

Memphis leading rusher Doroland Dorceus will miss the rest of the season with an undisclosed injury.

Through four games, Dorceus rushed for 237 yards and four touchdowns on 46 carries.  During his freshman season, he ran for 105 yards and a touchdown.

Tigers head coach Justin Fuente did state they would apply for a medical redshirt for Dorceus. If that goes through, the New Orleans native will have three more years of football eligibility remaining.

Fuente will now turn to senior Brandon Hayes (197 rushing yards, one touchdown) and freshman Jarvis Cooper (130  yards, one touchdown) to carry the load for the Tigers at running back. Sophomore Sam Craft will see his share of carries as well.

The Tigers (2-2) will open American Athletic conference play this Saturday at Cincinnati.

After a disappointing 2013 season where the Tigers managed to win just three games, the 2014 team has already improved mightily and is shaping up for a successful season in the AAC.

Memphis took UCLA to the brink earlier in the season, losing a close game by just a touchdown, 42-35. This past weekend at Ole Miss, points were hard to come by but the defense came ready to play, allowing only 24 points to a very formidable Ole Miss squad.

Although Dorceus’ production will be missed, Fuente must be pleased with how the team has played the season and the direction the program is heading.

You can catch the Tigers play this Saturday at Cincinnati at 7 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.
