What We Learned: Week 6

1. Dak Prescott is the Heisman front-runner.

Dak Prescott and the Mississippi State Bulldogs did it again. After upsetting LSU two weeks ago, the Bulldogs dominated Texas A&M, 48-31.

Prescott has been nothing short of sensational this season. He has steadily climbed the Heisman rankings and sitting at the top through the halfway point of the college football season.

Through five games, the junior has accounted for 1,687 total yards and 19 total touchdowns.

Mississippi State has another SEC showdown against Auburn. If Prescott can lead his team to another victory, his Heisman chances will skyrocket even more.

2. Deshaun Watson is the future of Clemson.

After his six touchdown performance against North Carolina, you can notice right away the raw talent and potential Deshaun Watson holds.

He followed that amazing performance with another solid one, throwing for two touchdowns and running for another two.

The Georgia native is putting up uncanny numbers for a true freshman, throwing for 1,181 yards, 12 touchdowns and just one interception while also rushing for three touchdowns.

Head coach Dabo Swinney must feel pretty good about the future of his program with Watson under center.

3. Dan Mullen….Florida’s next coach?

Mississippi head coach Dan Mullen has done the unthinkable so far this season. His Bulldogs are ranked No. 3 in the nation and all of the momentum is in his corner for their upcoming game against Auburn this Saturday.

With all of the turmoil going on in Gainesville, FL on and off the field, many believe Mullen is at the top of the list to replace Will Muschamp if he is indeed let go.

Mullen was Florida’s offensive coordinator under the tutelage of Urban Meyer from 2005-2008. He played a huge part in the development of Tim Tebow and the Gators won two national championships (2006, 2008) while he was there.

Don’t be surprised if Mullen is announced as the Gators next coach by season’s end.

4. Oregon still can’t get over the hump.

For the third straight year, the Oregon Ducks have fallen to a conference foe.

The Arizona Wildcats shocked the world last Thursday night, defeating the Ducks in Eugene, 31-24.

Stanford dismantled the Ducks’ hopes of reaching the national championship in 2012 and 2013. The good news is, time is still on Oregon’s side but they cannot allow another loss on the schedule.

Oregon will look to get back on track this Saturday against UCLA.
