Complaint Against Treon Harris Dropped

Earlier this week, Florida Gators quarterback Treon Harris was suspended during an investigation into charges of sexual assault from last weekend.  The school was quick in suspending the freshman quarterback, forcing him to miss this past week of practice.

Now, reports have been released that the female accuser has decided to withdraw the complaint filed against Harris.  Sources say that the accuser was a member of the athletic department as well.

Harris’ attorney, Huntley Johnson, said that the accuser was, “the sexual aggressor with not one, but two, young men last Sunday morning.”

The decision to suspend Harris may have been too quick to judge, and were it sustained Will Muschamp would have been limited at quarterback.  Harris proved last weekend that he was clearly the team’s best option under center, guiding the Gators to a tight 10-9 victory.

The Harris news has been a hot stove topic all week and for at least one more weekend, Jeff Driskel will be a major beneficiary, as he will remain the team’s starting quarterback. Harris was reinstated by the university but per reports, will not see the field when the Gators host LSU tonight.

Harris rallied the Gators for a second half comeback against Tennessee last week, edging the Vols on the road, 10-9. With Harris back in the fold, Driskel now has the added pressure of a proven backup behind him, which means Driskel has to perform and perform big.

According to his attorney, Harris intends on remaining at the school and should continue to play a vital role for Florida.
