Johnny Manziel left Texas A&M last year a legend, a Heisman trophy winner, and a key fixture in turning around an otherwise irrelevant Aggie football program. Most thought when he left that the Aggies would slip back into mediocrity, but the cupboard was not as bare as some had thought.
Texas A&M quarterback Kenny Hill had a spectacular start to his season, throwing the ball for over 500 yards in his opener against South Carolina and getting the nickname “Kenny Trill”.In the first game of the post “Johnny Football” era Hill broke Manziel’s record for most passing yards in a game. Hill led the Aggies to a 5-0 start , a top five ranking, and threw for 17 touchdowns compared to just two interceptions. He was adorned the next big thing in Aggie nation, the next Johnny Football, the next Heisman candidate, but my how the mighty have fallen.
The last three games have not been kind to Hill as he’s accounted for the same amount of touchdowns as interceptions (six). Two days after being benched in favor of freshman five star recruit Kyle Allen, Kenny Hill has now been suspended for two games for violation of team rules. The school wouldn’t release any more details, but considering the timing you can guess there’s a relationship with the violation and his benching.
This will be Hill’s second suspension this calendar year. He was suspended in the spring after a public intoxication charge for passing out in College Station’s bar district. The Aggies hope Allen can grab full reins of the starting job because on November 8 they take on a talented and national championship contending Auburn team.
