You’ve been working all semester for this moment — Thanksgiving break! Not only do you get a long weekend, most of you will hang with family and get a homecooked meal to enjoy. With a few weeks to go before winter break, this is your last chance to take a breath before finals week.
Sometimes, we could use a quick reminder about how awesome it is to be in college. Here are 26 things all college kids can be thankful for.
1. Still having money left on your meal card at the end of the semester.
2. Not wearing sandals to shower when home on break.
3. Renting textbooks instead of paying twice as much to buy them.
4. Wearing sweatpants for every occasion.
5. Having leftovers in your fridge after a trip home.
6. Fitting an entire week’s worth of classes into one or two days.
7. Reaching into your pocket and feeling some money.
8. When professors have class on the lawn in the quad.
9. Take-home exams.
10. The existence of coffee during midterm and finals week.
11. Discovering ways to get free stuff.
12. Taking naps at all hours of the day.
13. Getting four months of summer to chill and do nothing.
14. Waking up 10 minutes before class starts and getting there five minutes early.
15. Making every party exciting by picking a different theme.
16. Finally turning 21.
17. Not being in high school anymore.
18. A solid night of sleep without waking up for a fire drill.
19. Walking to class and seeing a sign saying it’s cancelled.
20. Late-night food runs.
21. Selling books back at the end of the semester so you can immediately use the money for stuff you shouldn’t be spending it on.
22. Doing ridiculous things in the wee-hours of the morning.
23. Netflix marathons when you don’t want to move out of bed or off the couch.
24. Care packages from home.
25. Finding shortcuts to reach the minimum page requirement for research papers.
26. Not being in the “real world” yet and living the dream on campus.
