Before a game, there is nothing better than that perfect song to get you pumped up and get the adrenaline going. Everyone has their own type of pregame music, but these 10 songs are perfect to get anyone ready for the big game.
1. “Remember The Name” by Fort Minor
This song has one of the most recognizable lyrics when it comes to “pump up” music. It lists off everything a person needs to be successful. While getting ready for a game, there is nothing better than hearing what is required. If an athlete sets a goal, they will do everything needed to achieve it. This song represents just that. It gives you the percentages of what a person needs to be remembered. There is nothing an athlete wants more than to stand out from the crowd.
2. “We Own It” by 2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa
Not only does this get your blood flowing and make you want to start moving, the movie it comes from helps with the message. This song is known for being at the beginning of Fast and Furious 6. Listening to this song just makes you feel empowered.
It provides that needed motivation to give it your all. This song makes me feel like I’m on top of the world and nobody can mess with me. As long as I give it my all, I shouldn’t fear anything, and nobody can judge me for that.
3. “Centuries” by Fall Out Boy
This has a very clear message. It’s about being remembered and standing out, while also following your dreams and not listening to people trying to bring you down. Rising from the bottom and proving those critics wrong is one of the greatest feelings in the world and this song’s lyrics along with the music create a perfect beat to get you jacked up.
4. “Stronger” by Kanye West
This is a classic pump up song because the whole concept surrounds becoming stronger. While this song has been around for a long time, it’s one of Kanye’s best. It makes you feel confident and tells you to take the bad in order to help you get stronger. There can be something good in every bad situation. The power brought about with the song should be brought to the game.
5. “Survival” by Eminem
Standing out and beating out the competition is very important for athletes. You must go through tryouts and compete with others to get playing time.Who comes out on top comes down to who puts their heart into it the most. The person that does this will be able to achieve their goals.
6. “Bo$$” by Fifth Harmony
This song is different from the first five. It’s more of a pop song with a good beat. At the beginning of the music video, “Dreams don’t work unless you do” flashes across the screen. Talk about a message everyone should live by. The song itself doesn’t have much to do with preparing yourself for a game, but it does have to do with confidence and earning respect.
7. “Fighter” by Christina Aguilera
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. It helps you feel strong. Christina does a great job of explaining how to rise up from something bad that happened, and it’s as if you can sing these lyrics and relate to them as much as she can.
The actual song is about a breakout, but you can really insert any bad situation here and come out with the same result, which is being a stronger person. The power in her voice and the words behind the make this one of the best pump up songs of all time.
8. “4 Minutes” by Madonna
There’s just one beat throughout this whole song, but it’s catchy and completely works. I dare anyone to listen to this and no want to get up and dance. This tune will always have the reputation as a great one to dance to, and people can dig the older music.
This is one of those that will always get you pumped up once it comes on because it’s an older song and you probably haven’t heard it in a long time.
9. “I Can Transform Ya” by Chris Brown
Not only is Chris Brown in this song, but some old favorites make appearances, as well. Lil Wayne and Swizz Beatz are featured and bring a little something extra to make it special. When multiple artists come together, there’s no guarantee that it’ll work, but the combination of these three artists makes a great song for any kind of physical activity.
10. “Afterlife” by Ingrid Michelson
Facing your fears takes courage and that’s what this song is all about. It’s different from any of the others above because it doesn’t have the same kind of beat. It’s more about the message behind the song and how you should live your life like there’s no tomorrow. It sends an important message that should get people excited you excited and accomplish what you’re setting out to do.
When my friends, sisters and I think of music that gets us excited before games, these are the ones that come to mind. Being an athlete myself, I like listening to music that can make you feel as strong as possible, along with feeling like you can do anything. Real music gets the message across and these ten songs do just that.
