Report: Bowling Green fires basketball coach after bar incident

The Bowling Green Falcons announced the firing of head basketball coach Chris Jans on Thursday following an alleged incident at an off-campus bar.

“Jans was terminated following an investigation into his recent public conduct,” the school announced in a statement. “The university concluded that Jans’ public conduct failed to meet his obligations as a head coach and the expectations that BGSU Athletics has for its coaches.”

Fox Sports Ohio’s Zac Jackson shared further details from the alleged altercation.

Jans was in his first year as the Bowling Green head coach.

The Falcons finished the season with a 21-12.

Prior to joining Bowling Green, Jans was an assistant on the Wichita State Shockers coaching staff for seven years.
