Former Hootie and The Blowfish lead singer Darius Rucker stopped by The Dan Patrick Show on Thursday to discuss a variety of topics when he received a special surprise.
With Rucker on set, Dan Patrick opened the phone lines for fans to call in and a very familiar voice was the first to call.
Rucker sat in his South Carolina Gamecocks hat fielding a call from a man named “Steve from Columbia, South Carolina.” It didn’t take long for Rucker to realize the man on the phone was the old ball coach, Steve Spurrier.
After realizing it was Spurrier on the line, the two men began chatting it up with a fun conversation ranging from the South Carolina women’s basketball team’s upcoming Final Four meeting with Notre Dame to the school’s fight song.
Both Rucker and Spurrier agreed that South Carolina doesn’t have an established fight song, so they jokingly discussed the possibility of Rucker whipping up a hit for the Gamecocks.
