Student-athletes sing national anthem at Final Four (Video)

The NCAA takes a lot of heat for a number of the decisions and bylaws that they have made or put in place, but a decision before Saturday’s Final Four is one that should be applauded.

Before the Michigan State Spartans and Duke Blue Devils tipped off at Lucas Oil Stadium in the first of two national semifinals in the 2015 NCAA men’s basketball tournament, four student-athletes took center court — including Wisconsin’s Vito Brown, who will return to the court later this evening when the Badgers try to knock off Kentucky.

The athletes then gave a rendition of the national anthem which could go down as one of the best in recent memory.

The four student-athletes who participated in the pre-game festivities were:

  • Duke football — Deion Williams
  • Wisconsin basketball — “Velvet” Vito Brown
  • Kentucky soccer — Kennedy Collier
  • Michigan State  soccer — Michelle Dear

Following Michigan State vs. Duke, the Wisconsin Badgers and unbeaten Kentucky Wildcats go head-to-head. The winner of today’s Final Four matchups will advance to the tournament final on April 6.
