Uber is here to save the day with a new venture from a Canadian branch of the company being branded as “Uber Safe.”
The conveniently driving service is setting out to make the streets safer, by offering up free rides — yes, free — to those who are too drunk to drive themselves home from a fun night out.
All you need to do is blow into a breathalyzer at an Uber Safe kiosk.
A black straw pops out of the machine and you must then blow into the kiosk for six seconds so it can determine your blood alcohol level.
If the kiosk determines you are too drunk to be driving home after processing the results, a screen will pop up that prompts you to hail an Uber for the very affordable price of $0.
You can’t beat that.
For now, Uber Safe is only available at the participating kiosks from the Canadian branch, but Uber plans on rolling out the feature at more locations in the future.
Let’s hope Uber Safe makes its way to major American cities and big college towns.
