The hype over what college five-star prospect Ivan Rabb is going to choose has reached such astrinomical heights that it garnered its own kitchy nickname: Rabb Watch.
Anticipation over Rabb’s choice — a list trimmed down to Arizona and Cal — kicked into high gear after possible Berkeley attendee Caleb Swanigan commited to Michigan State last week.
Despite the pressure on him to make a decision, NorCal native Rabb has done his best to remain mum. Then, on Sunday, the Bishop O’Dowd product announced: He will make an annoucnement on what school he has chosen on Monday night.
That’s right. An announcement about an announcement. Make Rabb Watch a full blown Twitter hashtag and hold on for dear life.
There has been debate over whether or not Cal is the more likely destination for the Oakland, California native given its close locale and the reported contact that Rabb has had with Bears coaches.
It is a possibility that most of the hype around Rabb’s decision is the fact that he has tried to be so private about it.
In fact, per a report from Nike Hoop Summit earlier last week, Rabb said he was more likely to make his decision public via social media instead of anything big like a TV presser.
With the annoucenement that he is planning to make the announcement from his mother’s restaurant on Monday night, there will probably be a bit more media attention than he had previously hoped for.
Now, it’s just a matter of counting down until the big announcement is made, which will reportingly be at 7pm Pacific time.
