Georgia Tech raising money with Rolling Stones concert

Thanks to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, The Rolling Stones have a stop on their upcoming tour in Atlanta, Georgia. According to recent reports, Georgia Tech is set to host a concert from the legendary rock band at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

The stop in Atlanta will come in June.

It is certainly an interesting development, but there is a very good reason for Bobby Dodd Stadium to host the concert.

According to Georgia Tech athletic director Mike Bobinski, the concert will generate plenty of revenue for the athletic program. Bobinski expects the program will generate approximately $250,000 in revenue.

CBS Sports writes, “Bobinski says that sum could represent half the money the school will need to come up with to meet the new cost of attendance scholarships it will be required to give to its student athletes.”

Kudos to Georgia Tech for coming up with a creative way to come up with revenue for the athletic program. If the event is successful, we can expect to see even more schools looking to do the same.
