Jim McElwain Addresses JC Jackson’s Arrest

Florida Gators freshman cornerback J.C. Jackson was arrested for armed robbery late last night, and first-year head coach Jim McElwain has come forward with a statement, per Richard Johnson of Jacksonville.com

According to Chip Patterson of CBS Sports, Jackson and two others went to the apartment of an “acquaintance” and while Jackson left “quickly”, the two other men robbed the resident at gunpoint and made off with an Xbox, cash and drugs.

As more details of the arrest emerged, it was reported that Jackson was the only one identified from the incident and he turned himself in, though he was not involved in the robbery directly.

Jackson recently was involved in a traffic stop with teammate Treon Harris, and marijuana was found though no charges were filed.

What happens next remains to be seen, but McElwain should be grateful that he has so much depth at corner with Vernon Hargreaves and Brian Poole on the team as well as Jalen Tabor.

Hopefully, Jackson gets his head on straight so that the Gators can become even more dangerous in the secondary.
