The Auburn Tigers knew they would need to address their defense in 2015 if there was any hope of the team improving, so they went out and hired former Florida Gators head coach Will Muschamp.
It hasn’t taken long for Muschamp to make his impact on the defensive unit felt and that was evident immediately during the annual A-Day scrimmage.
Saturday was the lowest scoring spring game since Gus Malzahn took over as Auburn’s head coach.
“They’re flying around,” Malzahn said, via AL.com. “They’re playing hard.”
Not only is Malzahn impressed with the was Will Muschamp has been able to make an immediate impact, but the players on the defensive side of the ball seem to appreciate their new defensive coordinator’s approach.
With the way Muschamp’s players are embracing him, the Auburn defense could reach new heights this season.
“Everybody loves Coach Muschamp,” defensive tackle Montravius Adams said. “He’s bringing that energy and changing the question to the whole defense, so we’re going to be a top contender.”
It will be interesting to see if Muschamp can keep the intensity going on the defensive side of the ball through the summer, but if he does and the players continue to respond, the Auburn faithful are going to be very happy when the 2015 Auburn Tigers football team takes the field.
