Connecticut Huskies head coach Kevin Ollie released a statement on Wednesday saying he had no plans to pursue other jobs outside of his current gig.
“As I have said many times, I am proud and honored to be the head basketball coach at the University of Connecticut and I have no plans to pursue other opportunities,” Ollie said in a statement.
“We are already excited about next season and I am looking forward to preparing our team to be the best we can be on the court, in the classroom, and in our community.”
Well, those “plans” may be changing.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, league sources say Ollie “could be a candidate for the Thunder’s coaching job” despite his previous statement.
Kevin Ollie was a teammate of superstars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook and both players are believed to hold Ollie in high regard. With that in mind, it would be a natural fit for Ollie to join the Thunder coaching staff with some chemistry already in place.
