It wasn’t too long ago that former Nebraska Cornhuskers standout Randy Gregory was considered by many to be a high first-round pick. Now, he will likely be forced to wait to hear his name on draft day.
As the 2015 NFL Draft in Chicago rapidly approaches, the growing belief around the league is that Gregory could slide to the bottom of Round 1.
Mike Mayock of the NFL Network said league personnel members are having internal discussions about whether to pull the trigger and draft Randy Gregory when their team is on the clock.
“I’ve had a bunch of teams in the bottom half of the first round going, uh oh, we’ve got to be all over this guy from our owner, because you might have to bring him into this conversation, from our owner down to our coaching staff,” Mayock said, via ProFootballTalk.
Gregory’s stock started to fall when he tested positive for marijuana at the NFL Scouting Combine. Then, people were worried that he is too skinny.
Whether either of those issues will hold him back remains to be seen, but whoever lands Gregory is going to get a solid playmaker on the field.
