While they say there are no surprises in recruiting, there seems to be an exception on the recruitment of 4-Star RB Robert Washington.
Moments after reports of him committing to Florida came out, he had a ceremony at his church in which he announced his commitment to Syracuse. This is just the beginning of the surprise. Let’s take a look at his offer list:
- Ohio State
- Notre Dame
That’s just 8 out of the near 40 offers he has reported, and yet he chose the Orange. Washington plans on enrolling early, and is setting himself up quite nicely when it comes to early playing time. He is thought of as being a Top-10 RB and top 240 players overall in the nation.
Washington currently attends Southlake Christian School in Huntersville, NC and this past fall he rushed for over 2,000 yards and 23 TD’s in his Junior season according to MaxPreps. North Carolina has become a hotbed for RB prospects in the past several years, with BJ Emmons (UGA), Antonio Williams (Wisconsin) already committed, and recruits in the past such as Todd Gurley(UGA), Keith Marshall(UGA), Johnny Frazier(NC State) , and Elijah Hood (UNC) all being from the Tar Heel state.
Washington is the Orange third commitment for the 2016 Class, and if this commitment sticks, he will be the Orange highest rated incoming freshman in recent memory.
