Sanctions from Jameis Winston’s crab-leg incident unlikely

We know the crab-leg incident and the recent discussion with Jim Harbaugh is not likely to effect Jameis Winston’s draft stock (expect Tampa Bay to select him number one overall) but what about the impact on Florida State?

According to NBC Sports, Winston’s recent claim to Harbaugh on ESPN’s Draft Academy that a Publix (local Tallahassee grocery store) employee hooked him up with free crab-legs and a birthday cake will not result in penalties for the Seminoles program.

According to the Tallahassee Democrat, which cites a source close to the football program, the school “does not expect any NCAA violations to stem from the latest revelation in Jameis Winston’s shoplifting incident.”

Jimbo Fisher recently stated that Florida State looked into the issue but found that it was “an isolated” incident and that no other players receive the same benefits.

Following a police citation for the shoplifting, Winston was suspended by the FSU baseball team. He was not disciplined by the football program and Winston led the Seminoles to the College Football Playoff before losing to Oregon in the Rose Bowl semifinal match-up.
