Not even a month removed from the NCAA basketball tourney, there is already hype for games on next season’s docket.
Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported Monday that St. Johns will face off against Arizona State in Sin City December 22 at the MGM Grand.
In addition to watching the action on the court, this neutral ground contest will certainly coax cameras to point towards benches. It will be one of the first viewings of basketball goliath Chris Mullin in the head coaching position, who was hired by the Red Storm back on April 1 to replace Steve Lavin.
The Sun Devils have been making headlines themselves in the coaching department since their season ended, with the somewhat abrupt firing of Herb Sendek and the subsequent hiring of Bobby Hurley.
ASU was making headlines on Monday in general. Rothstein also reported Monday that the Sun Devils will begin a home-and-home series with Creighton at the opening of the 2014-15 season in Omaha on December 2.
