Mississippi State walk-on DeShun Dixon was arrested for DUI in Starkville on Sunday morning. Michael Bonner of The Clarion-Ledger broke the story. Dixon played wide receiver for Mississippi State in the spring.
Neither the school nor the athletic department have commented, as Bulldogs head coach Dan Mullen is away at a charity golf tournament for the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.
This marks the third arrest in six weeks associated with the Mississippi State Bulldogs football team. In March, leading receiver De’Runnya Wilson was arrested on drug charges. Shortly after that, offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins was arrested for assault.
Now Dixon makes three, and this is not the publicity the program needs to in order to compete in the ever-competitive SEC.
Mississippi State went 10-3 in 2014, finishing second behind the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Western Division. The team ultimately earned a trip to the Capital One Orange Bowl, losing to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 49-34.
Mississippi State opens the 2015 season against in-state rival Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg on September 5.
