Chris Jones Will Not Be Indicted On Rape Charges

A grand jury has decided that Louisville Cardinals guard Chris Jones and friends Tyvon Walker and Jalen Tilford will not be indicted on rape and sodomy charges, according to Andrew Wolfson of the Courier-Journal.

Jones plead not guilty to the charges back in February. Shortly beforehand, he was kicked off the team. Jones was also suspended from the team earlier in February for what was later determined as leaving a woman a threatening voicemail.

Tilford insisted that the sex was consensual, and the defendants’ attorney Scott C. Cox boldly predicted that no indictment would happen.

At the time of his dismissal, the 5-foot-10, 175 pound Jones was averaging 13.7 points per game. The former junior college transfer posted just under 12 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists on 39 percent shooting in one and a half seasons for Louisville.

In his absence this season, Louisville went 6-4 and got as far as the Elite Eight in this year’s NCAA tournament. There, the Cardinals lost to the Michigan State Spartans in a hard-fought overtime battle.
