The Georgia Southern football program has suspended three players, according to a report from the Statesboro Herald.
The players — defensive end Ross Alexander, linebacker Kurt Oehlbeck and safety Alexander Yost — were all arrested by the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Department this week.
“They are suspended indefinitely until the conclusion of their legal process,” Georgia Southern athletic director Tom Kleinlein said in a statement. “Their status on the team will be reevaluated after that time.”
Alexander and Oehlbeck were charged with possession of a schedule I controlled substance and criminal trespass. Yost was charged with criminal trespass and criminal attempt to commit a felony.
All three players were reserves for the Georgia Southern team that won the Sun Belt Conference championship last season.
It was their first year as a FBS program.
