Giants Trade Up, Open Round 2 By Drafting Landon Collins

The New York Giants have traded up in the second round, sending the 40th pick and a fourth and seventh round pick to acquire the Tennessee Titans’ 33rd overall selection, the first of Day 2. GM Jerry Reese used the pick to select Alabama safety Landon Collins.

Collins registered 103 tackles for the Crimson Tide last year and pulled in three interceptions, though the latter state isn’t the strongest part of his game. Just the same, this young man is an incredible tackler and is like a Mack truck in the way he wraps up defenders.

The Giants are needy at the position, and there is every indication that Collins will immediately be slotted in as a starter. The team used its first round pick, the ninth overall on offensive tackle Ereck Flowers, formerly of the Miami Hurricanes.
