As is traditional with the second round of the NFL Draft, team “legends” announce their respective teams’ picks. In the Buffalo Bills’ case, that man tonight was Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly.
Kelly has battled a form of jaw cancer for a few years, and underwent treatment as recently as last year. He made a full recovery and was declared cancer free back in September.
In light of all that, to see him receive a standing ovation from the Chicago crowd tonight was not only uplifting, but near tear inducing. Kelly took it all in, thanked the fans for their prayers and well-wishes, then announced the pick.
Buffalo ended up selecting Florida State defensive back Ronald Darby with the 50th overall pick, its first of the 2015 NFL Draft.
