4-star shooting guard Kenny Williams commits to UNC

You can never have enough shooters in basketball, especially in the college game where the knock down three ball specialists are hard to find.

4-star sharp-shooter and former VCU commit Kenny Williams choose North Carolina over Virginia on Saturday afternoon.

Williams, 89th ranked recruit in 2015 by Rivals, committed to the Rams but when Shaka Smart left for Texas he decided to re-look at his options.

The 6’3″ Chesterfield, Virginia prospect gives now fills the one position of need for the Tar Heels as they are loaded in the front court, have size, have athleticism and have an experienced point guard.

All they needed was a consistent shooter and even though Williams may not play major minutes, the time he is on the court the defense will have to pay attention to him. This will suddenly open up looks for senior guard Marcus Paige, who struggled with injuries last season and had too much on his plate.

As for North Carolina as a whole, this was a huge pickup considering their upcoming sanctions. They missed out on Jaylen Brown and Brandon Ingram and the scandal could be the main issue.
