Auburn dismisses Elijah Daniel following arrest, charges

It has been an eventful weekend for Elijah Daniel–and not in a good way.

Multiple sources have reported that the Auburn defensive end was kicked off the team, just a couple days after being arrested for burglary and theft.

Daniel, along with former Auburn athletes DeNorris James and Khalil Sellers, were arrested last Wednesday in conjunction with a month-long investigation stemming from campus burglaries that took place over spring break, CollegeFootballTalk reported. All three men were charged with four counts of burglary of property and four of theft. Six of the eight are felony charges, CFT says.

Head coach Gus Malzahn initally suspended Daniel. But it has been reported that Daniel has been asked to leave the team as of Saturday.

Malzahn said in a statement over the weekend:

“I have decided to dismiss Elijah Daniel from our team. My hope is that he will learn from this situation.”
