Four-Star Recruit Temple Gibbs Commits to Notre Dame

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball program may be in something of a rebuild phase next year, but the team now has plenty of reason to be excited.

Four-star point guard Temple Gibbs, of the class of 2016, announced on both his Twitter and Instagram that he would head to South Bend for his college career.

A native of Scotch Plains, New Jersey, a town about 30 miles outside New York City, Gibbs currently plays for Seton Hall Prep. This season, he helped lead the team to a 25-2 record.

On top of Notre Dame, he had received offers from Georgetown, Boston College, St. John’s and many others.

With team star Jerian Grant set to graduate to the NBA and current point man Demetrius Jackson set to become a junior, this is a huge get for Notre Dame.

Gibbs comes from a basketball family, his brother Ashton having played at Pitt and his other brother Sterling having spent time at Texas and Seton Hall, and he has made great strides as a point guard in his own right.

On top of having a deadly three-point shot, he is a phenomenal defender and is improving his ball-handling skills day by day.

Once he learns how to drive the lane in traffic more often and rely less on his jump shot, the sky will be the limit for this young man.

Notre Dame went 32-6 (14-4 ACC) this past season, taking home the ACC title and earning a spot in the NCAA tournament. There, they lost a heartbreaker to the then-undefeated Kentucky Wildcats in the Elite Eight.
