Herschel Walker’s son is pursuing competitive cheerleading

Former Cowboys, Eagles and Giants running back Herschel Walker was a star in the NFL and he was “baffled” when he realized his son wanted to take a different path in life.

Last year, Christian Walker decided that instead of picking up a football and following his father’s path he wanted to write his own path through cheerleading.

“I thought, like, cheering at a game. And he says, ‘No, no, no. Competitive cheer.’ And I’m like, ‘What? Like what is that'” Herschel Walker told CBS.

But Christian doesn’t feel like he let his father down in any way.

“He’s always encouraged me to do what I need to do. So that’s what I’ve done,” Christian added.

Christian is shocked at the overwhelming support that he received from both his family and his friends.

“I love him so much that if he never played football, I’m going to love him as much as I love him now,” Hershel continued to tell CBS Sports.

The most warming part of the story is that Herschel was in Orlando this past weekend with his son and their team won 1st place in the competition.

Props to Christian for following his dreams.
