The offseason continues to maintain a buzz on the transfer market as a former Louisville Cardinal is headed West to finish his remaining years in college.
6’3″ guard Anton Gill has committed to Tim Miles and Nebraska Tuesday evening. He will have to sit out the 2015-16 before returning to the court for his final two seasons of eligibility.
In addition to Nebraska, Gill was also considering East Carolina and Georgetown. He visited all three schools.
The Raleigh, North Carolina native only managed to average 9.4 minutes per game during his sophomore stint, putting up 2.5 points per game on 35 percent shooting.
Gill had a tremendous outing off the bench in Louisville’s Sweet 16 match-up against North Carolina State, scoring seven points in 11 minutes (3-for-3 from the field and one three ball). The talented guard scored a season high 15 points against Florida International and also added 14 points against Florida State in ACC play.
A four-star recruit out of Hargrave Military Academy, Gill held offers from a number of schools including Charlotte, East Carolina, Xavier, Miami, North Carolina State, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest (in addition to Louisville).
With Terran Petteway and Tarin Smith moving on, the Huskers needed to find some depth in the backcourt and Gill’s experience will provide a much needed boost in 2016.
