Three-star receiver Kyran Bowman will de-commit from North Carolina and instead focus on basketball, per a report from Ross Martin of 247Sports. Bowman had been committed to the Tar Heels for over a year and was set to graduate in a year.

Jim Bob Bryant, Bryant’s football coach at Havelock High School, elaborated further on his star receiver’s choice.

“Kyran Bowman is no longer part of our football program,” Havelock High School head football coach Jim Bob Byrant told CarolinaBlue on Thursday morning. “He is going to focus on basketball. He is going to de-commit from North Carolina.”

Bowman’s only known hoops offer is from East Carolina, but he’ll be a name to watch over the next year. UNC, meanwhile, only has four commits for 2016 thus far, the biggest name of which is four-star QB Logan Byrd.

The Tar Heels went 6-7 (4-4 ACC) in 2014, ultimately losing to Rutgers in the Quick Lane Bowl.
