Report: Horizon League tournament shifting to Detroit

There is going to be a change in the Horizon League conference tournament moving forward.

According to a report from the Detroit Free-Press, the Joe Louis Arena and the new Red Wings Arena in Detroit will play host to the annual tournament for the next five years.

Horizon League commissioner Jon LeCrone would not confirm the news, but the Detroit Free-Press says that there have been discussions.

Previously, the Horizon League tournament would be hosted on campus sites from the participating teams. When the tournament final came about, the highest remaining seed would host the championship.

With the new structure, there will be no “homecourt” advantage as every game will be played at a neutral court.
