Mountain West Championship Game dropped by CBS

-

The Mountain West Conference will need to find someone new to broadcast the conference championship game in 2015.

This week, CBS declined a contract option to broadcast the game after airing the previous two. Last season, only 1.5 million people watched the championship matchup between Boise State and Fresno State.

According to the Coloradoan, ESPN could air the conference championship this season. ESPN is the conference’s secondary broadcast partner, so it would be a natural fit.

One thing that will stay the same for the conference championship game is the format.

Despite considering changes at the annual meetings in Phoenix, the Mountain West officials decided to keep the format the same with the best team from the Mountain and West divisions meeting in the final.

The higher ranked team in the College Football Playoff poll will be the host of the game.
