Hudsonville high school (Hudsonville, Michigan) forward Brent Hibbits grew up wanting to play for the Maize and Blue and he wasn’t going to let anything stop him from attaining that goal.
Hibbits turned down scholarship offers from school such as Western Michigan, Appalachian State, Central Michigan, Vermont, and American University to play for the Wolverines.
He spoke to mlive.com about his decision.
“It never came down to the scholarship or not,” Hibbitts stated. “It came down to me having the chance to go play basketball at my dream school. That was impossible for me to turn down. That was really it.”
The talented forward visited Ann Arbor last week and decided the time was right to join the Wolverines.
Michigan head coach John Beilein believes he can come and make a contribution to the program.
“Beilein said if I come in and work hard that I’ll have every opportunity as everybody else,” Hibbitts stated. “They said they’ll need me to do a bit of everything because I can play a lot of different positions. Anything that’s needed for the team, that’s what I’ll do.”
