Georgia would be an interesting spot for Golson, who has also been linked to Florida State, Alabama and even South Carolina. He threw for 5,850 yards and 41 touchdowns in two years under center in South Bend, and also rushed for 581 yards and 14 touchdowns over that stretch.
However, that type of skillset isn’t exactly prevalent in the offense that Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt runs, as previous signal-callers Hutson Mason and Aaron Murray were primarily pocket QBs, though Murray did manage to run for 396 yards and 16 touchdowns in his four seasons in Athens. But it could still give Georgia something of an advantage on offense as quarterbacks that can run (e.g. Dak Prescott, Kyler Murray, Treon Harris) are becoming the trend in the SEC. Considering how Georgia went 10-3 (6-2 SEC) last season, Golson could definitely jump-start that offense.
The university is not currently on Golson’s shortlist, but Campus Sports will update this impending visit as more details emerge.
