Florida Gators lose QB Skyler Mornhinweg to transfer

Following news that former Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Everett Golson has visited with the Florida Gators, it appears a quarterback has decided Gainesville is no longer for him.

On Wednesday, reports surfaced that quarterback Skyler Mornhinweg has decided to transfer.

Mornhinweg, the son of Baltimore Ravens offensive assistant Marty Mornhinweg, is set to take his talents from the Southeastern Conference to the Ivy League.

The former Saint Joseph’s Prep standout, who was a three-star recruit in 2012, will be transferring to Columbia.

Florida head coach Jim McElwain announced the news during a conference call with the media.

With the transfer of Mornhinweg, Will Grier and Treon Harris are now the only scholarship quarterbacks on the Florida Gators’ roster. Could that open the door for Golson?
