The Auburn Tigers have landed a major transfer in former Providence Friars forward Tyler Harris. Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported the story.

The 6’9″, 223 pound, former four-star recruit from Dix Hills, NY and former star at St. Benedict’s Prep averaged 9.9 points and four rebounds for Friars coach Ed Cooley last year. He will be eligible to play immediately and adds some much-needed frontcourt depth to Auburn coach Bruce Pearl’s team.
Auburn was 15-20 (4-14 SEC) in Pearl’s first year manning the sidelines and finished second to last in the ultra-competitive SEC, just one game ahead of cellar-dwelling Missouri. The program has not made the NCAA tournament since 2003, back when Cliff Ellis was head coach, so hopefully Harris’s arrival as well as those of incoming recruits Horace Spencer and Danjel Purifoy can help turn the team around for the better.
