The Seminoles now have an instant fix in the hole at quarterback left by former Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston, who entered the NFL Draft and was picked first overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. On top of that, it allows rising junior Sean Maguire another year to develop his game.
In two seasons at Notre Dame, with him missing one due to academic suspension, Golson threw for 5,850 yards and 41 touchdowns with a completion percentage of 59.5 while rushing for 581 yards and 14 scores. He isn’t as strong an athlete as Winston, but still gives FSU more of a final answer at quarterback for the 2015 campaign.
