UCLA’s Jonah Bolden Out 6-8 Weeks Following Knee Surgery

UCLA Bruins forward Jonah Bolden will be sidelined six-to-eight weeks as he recovers from surgery to repair a “slight” meniscus tear. CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported the news of the Australian prospect’s injury.

After being deemed ineligible to play last season, due to leaving to play high school ball in the U.S. after his senior season in Australia had already begun, the four-star recruit out of New Hampshire’s Brewster Academy will now be sidelined for the next couple of months as he looks to finally make his Bruins debut. Fortunately, though a big skinny at 6’9″, 205 pounds, Bolden has enough athleticism and heart to hopefully make a full recovery and be ready for the start of the 2015-16 campaign.

UCLA went 22-14 (11-7 Pac-12) last season, its second under coach Steve Alford. The team made the NCAA Tournament as a No. 11 seed and made its second consecutive Sweet Sixteen, where it lost to No. 2 Gonzaga. In two years under Alford, the Bruins are 50-23 (23-13 Pac-12) with a Pac-12 title.

With key players in Kevon Looney and Norman Powell set to make the jump to the pros, here’s hoping that Bolden makes a speedy recovery and comes back in a position to become a go-to guy for UCLA next year!
