Fan Buzz originally reported on the impending surgery for Thomas in late March. The young Thomas has been battle-tested since debuting for the Seminoles in 2013.
Last season, Thomas served an indefinite suspension that lasted six games in 2014 after it was reported that he had violated team rules after missing practices and being caught with marijuana. Thomas, a redshirt sophomore at the time, made his season debut against Notre Dame with a career-high six tackles. He also made his first career start against Louisville, recording a tackle for loss in the win.
Thomas had so much promise coming out of 2014 and hopefully the surgery will not hold the young man back. Head coach Jimbo Fisher hopes he will be back at the mid-season point, which would give a tentative return game against Louisville on October 17.
