6-foot-8 Jack Purchase’s time at Auburn has quickly come to a close. The freshman forward from Australia struggled to find his bearings in Bruce Pearl’s system (recruited by Tony Barbee) as he failed to score more than nine points the entire season.
A strong size, Purchase only took fourteen shots the entire season.
Thirteen of which were from beyond the ark. Despite his inability to perform this season, expectations are that Purchase will find a new home and can be a solid contributor. A member of the silver medal Australian National Team for the FIBA World Championships, Purchase certainly has the potential to make an impact on the collegiate level.
The loss of Purchase may end up helping the Tigers in the future. His open roster spot also opens up a scholarship spot for this upcoming summer.
Whether Auburn will look to replace him with size or speed is unknown, but the Tigers inadvertently gained a small advantage they did not expect to have in recruiting.
