Clerkley becomes Georgia State’s second commitment of 2016, joining four-star shooting guard D’Marcus Simonds. Though the team plays in the little-followed Sun Belt, they became a team to watch after last year’s NCAA Tournament.

Following a season in which the team went 25-10 (15-5 Sun Belt), Georgia State made the big dance as a No. 14 seed and defeated No. 3 Baylor on a buzzer-beating three by R.J. Hunter, son of head coach Ron. The Panthers went on to lose to Xavier in the Round of 32, but the fact remained that they had thrust themselves into the national spotlight and will be on fans’ collective radars in 2015.

With Clerkley set to join the team in a couple of years, the Panthers’ future is definitely bright and full of potential.
