Brace yourselves, ladies and gentlemen.
The fine folks at Lamborghini are set to begin manufacturing a new SUV — the Lamborghini SpA Urus — that could be shipped to the United States, China, UK, Middle East, and select parts of Europe as early as 2018.
The vehicle, whose concept can be seen above, the Italian sportscar company could receive a generous sum of money for the project.
“In exchange for Lamborghini’s plan to hire as many as 500 people, [Prime Minister Matteo] Renzi’s government will grant as much as 80 million euros ($87 million) in tax breaks and other benefits to expand production in Italy, they wrote, citing unnamed sourced with knowledge of the deal,” Busines Insider wrote.
“[Parent company] Audi is seeking to broaden Lamborghini’s lineup beyond two-seat supercars, which have limited appeal in emerging markets such as China, where road conditions can be poor.”
Whether the Lamborghini SUV will end up looking like the concept remains to be seen and a price has yet to be announcd, but you can be sure it will attract plenty of attention when it first hits the open market.
