Arkansas fan brings Giant Spoon to Stillwater

The Arkansas Razorbacks got off to a 1-0 start in the Stillwater Regional with an 8-6 win over Oral Roberts on Friday afternoon.

But the more important thing that happened was this guy who showed up with a giant spoon.

The man with the giant spoon is apparently a huge fan of Razorback right fielder Tyler Spoon. The giant spoon seems to have had magical powers for the outfielder as well, who went 2-for-4, including an RBI double in the sixth inning that put Arkansas up 5-3, driving in Andrew Benintendi. That was Spoon’s 47th RBI of the season. He would later come in to score later in the inning.

Benintendi, who is a candidate for the Golden Spikes Award, had three hits of his own and drove in two runs on a double in the sixth right before Spoon’s.

After singling in the eighth, Spoon scored his second run of the game, and what would be the final run of the day for Arkansas.

Baseball America’s Michael Lananna brings up a great point about this giant spoon fan though.

That conversation with the security guard has to be one of the funniest things to witness.

It could get awkward on Saturday as Arkansas will likely take on Oklahoma State in the winners bracket game. The Cowboys still have to get past St. John’s on Friday to set that matchup though.

Expect a lot of OSU fans to be spitting some hot fire at giant spoon guy if they do meet in Stillwater.
