Iowa State commit Nick Noskowiak updates status

With Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg expected to take over the Chicago Bulls job sometime next week, soon-to-be freshman guard, Nick Noskowiak, has updated his status with the program.

Noskowiak is expected to remain with the school as long as assistant coach T.J. Otzelberger stays over the reins.

CBS Sports has been reporting that Otzelberger is a favorite of athletic director Jamie Pollard and is one of the strongest candidates to take over for Hoiberg.

The four star prospect from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin was recruited by Otzelberger, who is also a Wisconsin native, when he was released from his letter of intent by Marquette. Noskowiak clearly wants continuity if he is going to remain in Ames.

The 6’2″ guard received offers from Creighton, Green Bay and Illinois and has received interest from Xavier, Milwaukee, Northern Iowa, UNLV and Virginia Tech.

With very little depth at the point guard position behind Monte Morris, the Cyclones could use Noskowiak’s talents. He is a true point guard, leader and has a strong basketball IQ for a young player with a lack of a experience.

Iowa State will be a preseason top 10 team with or without Noskowiak, but his commitment would be critical depth wise for a team that has high aspirations to make major noise in March.
