Let’s take a moment to talk about Indiana University and Wake Forest University. They’re both fine academic institutions and have storied athletic programs.
It can also be safely said that the two are more known for basketball than they are for football, and the gridiron tilt they have scheduled against each other for September 26 at BB&T Field isn’t going to be that exciting.
Though the game is over three months away, Hoosiers coach Kevin Wilson is already starting to talk trash. Speaking to Alex Bozich of Inside the Hall, Wilson made his true feelings known and was not shy about them.
That’s pretty big talk for a small bird, if you ask me. Wilson is entering his fifth season with Indiana, his only experience as a head coach after years of working as an assistant throughout college football, and he only has a career head coaching record of 14-34 (6-26 Big Ten). Thus, the fact that he’s going after a team with whom he shouldn’t have any hard feelings is a bit strange, especially since Deacons head coach Dave Clawson has been a head coach since 1999 and has four conference titles to his name as he enters his second season at Wake Forest.
Either way, it will be interesting to see if Clawson responds to this trash talk and adds more fuel to the fire. No matter how you look at it, this game just became required viewing.
Indiana opens the 2015 season at home against Southern Illinois on September 5, while Wake Forest begins its season against Elon in Winston-Salem on September 3.
