The 2015 basketball recruiting class still has a few players who have yet to commit to a program, and point guard Jamal Murray, of Kitchener, Ontario, could be one of them if he chooses to reclassify. Currently of the class of 2016, the five-star point guard is making his official visit to Oregon this weekend. Andrew Nemec of The Oregonian reported the development.
The 6’5″, 175 pounder out of Athlete Institute Basketball Academy in Canada has also drawn interest from Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan State, Missouri and Wake Forest. A few weeks ago, Murray took an official visit to Lexington.
Granted, he hasn’t OFFICIALLY re-classified to the class of 2015 yet, but the fact that Murray could do so makes him a player to watch. He is a great scoring guard who can put points on the board in multiple fashions, which makes him an ideal fit for Oregon’s feisty offense. He could also potentially do well at Kentucky, as he would be playing in head coach John Calipari’s signature dribble-drive game.
Murray and his family haven’t given any indication on what he may decide to do regarding his future, but Campus Sports will update this story as more information becomes available.
