It isn’t very often that an SEC team travels to play a team in a city that averages temperatures below freezing in the winter time, but the Mississippi State Bulldogs will be doing just that when they head up to Foxborough, Massachusetts to play the Minutemen of Massachusetts in 2016.
According to College Football Talk, the Bulldogs and Minutemen have scheduled a series to begin next season and it will see a SEC team making a road trip up north. The three games will be played in 2016, 2017, and 2020.
Next year’s game takes place in Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots, with the last two games taking place in Starkville.
Mississippi State has not played outside of the South or the state of Texas since 2002 when they traveled to Eugene to take on the Oregon Ducks. This will be their first trip up north since 1986 when they played Syracuse.
The Minutemen are going to get very familiar with playing SEC teams. in 2013, they hosted Vanderbilt, and next year they travel to Gainesville to play the Gators in addition to hosting the Bulldogs.
This game will be one to watch in 2016. The Bulldogs just better hope that the game doesn’t take place in November. I hear it gets pretty cold up there around that time.
